What data recovery costs in India

Our data recovery charges are based on the Device Capacity and the extent of the Device Failure, not on the size of the data. This is because the cost of recovering data from a damaged or faulty hard drive depends on the severity of the damage and the amount of work/resources required to retrieve the data, rather than the actual data size itself.

These are starting charges for a single drive and they rise with capacity and with the severity of the fault. RAID, server and NAS cases are quoted individually after the analysis, because the work depends on the number of disks and the state of the array. Either way the analysis is free, takes 25-30 minutes once the device reaches the lab, and you get a firm quote before anything starts.

Founder’s note

A failed drive is never just a device. Behind it is a story, a responsibility, a memory – and often, something that can never be recreated.

My entrepreneurial journey began when I was just 10 years old. Coming from a humble background, I learned early that you do not need to have everything to begin – you need the courage to start, learn, and keep going.
I went on to become a Mechanical Engineer and spent five years with General Motors, where I learned the importance of precision, discipline, standardisation, documented SOPs, and consistent processes. One lesson stayed with me:

Quality cannot depend on chance. It has to be built into the process.

Alongside my corporate career, my interest in data recovery grew into a passion. I was fascinated by the engineering behind failed storage devices and the challenge of recovering data that appeared lost. Eventually, I chose to leave my corporate career and build DataCare Labs around the same principles of engineering excellence.
Today, DataCare Labs is built on specialised infrastructure, a Class 100 clean room, extensive donor-drive resources, experienced engineers, and carefully defined recovery processes. But data recovery is not only about technology.

What the charges cover, what moves the price, and how RAID and server cases are quoted.

Charges start at ₹3,000. For a single drive the starting points are ₹3,000 for a logical recovery, ₹6,000 where the fault is in the firmware and ₹10,500 for hardware faults needing clean-room work. The final figure depends on the capacity of the device and how severe the fault is.
Three things. The device — a pen drive, an external disk and a server array are three very different jobs. The capacity, because imaging a large drive takes far longer. And the class of fault: logical, firmware or physical. Donor parts, where a case needs them, are quoted separately and in advance.
No. The analysis is completed within 25-30 minutes of your device reaching the Pune lab and comes back as a written report naming the fault and what is readable. The quote follows it. Both are free and neither commits you to anything. Book a free pick-up.
There is no recovery charge. On complex cases — RAID, high-end work, or where donor parts are required — any parts cost is set out separately in the quotation before you approve it, so no charge arises that you have not already agreed.
Individually, after the analysis. The work depends on how many disks are in the array, which of them dropped first, whether a rebuild was attempted and what the controller configuration was. Send every member disk, including any marked failed, and the quote will reflect the actual array.
Tell us the device, its capacity, and what it is doing — clicking, not detected, dropped, formatted. An engineer will name the likely fault before anything is opened. Pick-up is free across India, and international collection is arranged through DHL and Blue Dart.
