At DataCare Labs, we prioritize the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices concerning the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data that you provide to us when utilizing our data recovery services, interacting with our website, or contacting us via email or phone.

Collection of Personal Information

We gather personal information when you engage with our data recovery services or firmware files, submit inquiries, or otherwise interact with us. This data may include your name, business details, email address, phone number, website information, and other relevant contact details. Additionally, we collect technical data such as IP addresses, browser types, and cookies to enhance your online experience and improve our service offerings.

Use of Personal Information

Your personal information is utilized to provide and refine our services, respond to your requests, and communicate relevant information about our services and related topics. We may also use your data for personalization of your experience on our website, marketing, and promotional purposes with your explicit consent.

Disclosure of Personal Information

We are committed to maintaining the confidentiality of your personal data and do not sell, trade, or rent it to third parties. However, we may share your information with our affiliates and partners who perform services on our behalf, third-party service providers assisting in business operations such as payment processing and data analytics, and legal authorities if required by law to comply with legal processes or protect our rights and safety.

Security of Personal Information

To safeguard your personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, we employ robust security measures including encryption, secure servers, and strict access controls. While we strive to protect your data, no transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. To see how your data is protected during recovery, read our Security Measures page.

Retention of Personal Information

Your personal information is retained only for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill legal obligations. Afterward, we may retain data for a reasonable period to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or for other legitimate business purposes.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to enhance your browsing experience, analyze traffic, and personalize content. You can manage cookie settings through your browser at any time.

Pages you view on our website. To understand how visitors find us and to help with your enquiry, our own system (DCL Bot) records the pages you open on our website, how long each page is open, the website or advert that brought you here, your type of device and browser, and an approximate city and country worked out from your internet address. It uses a random identifier kept in a cookie named dcl_vid (for one year). It does not record your name or contact details, and your internet address itself is not stored. If you later contact us through a form or the chat, we link that request to the pages you viewed. Records of visitors who do not contact us are deleted after 90 days. This information stays on our own servers and is never sold or shared. You can block or delete the cookie in your browser at any time.

Website Chat (Shital)

Our website has a chat assistant, Shital. It is automated: it answers from the information on our own website, runs on our own web server and does not send your messages to any artificial-intelligence or other outside service. The responsible company is DataCare Labs Private Limited, 301 Fortune House, Baner, Pune 411045, India (support@datacarelabs.com).

Your conversation. While you chat, the conversation is kept in your browser (in session storage for that browser tab), so that it continues when you move to another page of our website. It is cleared when you close the tab. It is not sent to us, except as described below.

Callback and pickup requests. If you ask us to call you back or to collect your device, we store your mobile number and/or email address, the name, city and device you enter (all optional except a number or an email address), the language, the address of the page you were on and the chat conversation (up to its last 30 messages). We save this on our website and send it by email to our team so that we can contact you. We use it only to handle your request, and keep it as described under Retention of Personal Information. To have it deleted, write to support@datacarelabs.com.

Questions the assistant could not answer. When the assistant cannot answer a message you typed, or is unsure of its answer, we store that message with the date, the language, the page address, the type of device being discussed and, where it answered, the question it answered with. No phone number, IP address or other part of the conversation is stored with it, and any number of seven or more digits and any email address are removed from the message first. We use these messages only to improve the assistant’s answers, and keep the latest 500.

Misuse protection. To limit automated misuse, we count how many callback and pickup requests and unanswered questions arrive from each IP address within an hour. The address is kept only in scrambled form for that hour and is not linked to your messages. If a callback or pickup request is rejected, we keep the date, the reason and a masked mobile number (only its first and last two digits) to find out what went wrong.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to measure how the chat is used: for example that it was opened, whether a button or a typed message was used, the topic, device and language, which of our answers was shown and whether a callback or pickup was requested. These events do not include your phone number or the text you type. Callback and pickup requests are also counted as conversions in Google Ads, to measure our advertising.

DataCare Software (HDD Switch, Drive Health, Folder Snapshot)

This section applies to the DataCare Labs software HDD Switch, Drive Health and Folder Snapshot. The responsible company is DataCare Labs Private Limited, 301 Fortune House, Baner, Pune 411045, India (support@datacarelabs.com).

Update check. To find out whether a newer version exists, the software downloads a small file from www.datacarelabs.com that contains the newest version number. As with any web request, our server receives your IP address and the version of the software. Apart from downloading an update you choose to install and the one-time installation report described below, this is the only internet connection the software makes. It sends no usage statistics and nothing about your files, folders or drives.

Downloads. When you download the software from our website, or the software downloads an update you chose to install, apps.datacarelabs.com counts the download and then passes the request on to the installer file. For each download we store the date, the software and version, whether it was a website download or an update, your approximate location (country, state and city), the website that linked to the download (its domain name only) and whether the request looked automated. Your approximate location is worked out from your IP address with the DB-IP Lite database (IP Geolocation by DB-IP, CC BY 4.0). The IP address itself is not stored: to avoid counting a repeated download twice, only a scrambled value of it that changes every day is kept, for 24 hours. We use these numbers to know how often, and in which countries and cities, the software is downloaded and updated.

Installations. On its first start on a computer, the software tells apps.datacarelabs.com once that it was installed: the software, its version and the Windows version (for example Windows 11, build 26100). We store these, the date and your approximate location (country, state and city), worked out from your IP address with the DB-IP Lite database. The IP address itself is not stored: to notice repeats, only a scrambled value of it that changes every day is kept, for 24 hours. No installation number and nothing about your files, folders or drives is sent. We use these numbers to know on how many computers, in which countries and cities and on which Windows versions the software is installed.

Earlier versions. Versions 1.93.0 and 1.93.1, published on 8 October 2026, could send anonymous usage statistics, but only if you agreed when the software asked. Later versions do not. To have data from those versions deleted, write to support@datacarelabs.com.

Hosting. Our websites and apps.datacarelabs.com are hosted by Hostinger. Like every web host, Hostinger keeps web server access logs, including IP addresses, for a limited time under its own retention rules.

Children’s Privacy

Our services are not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If we become aware of having inadvertently received personal information from a child, we will take steps to delete it from our records.
