Case Overview : Seagate SSD Data Recovery for a Pune CA Firm

This Seagate SSD data recovery in Pune began when a large CA firm’s FireCuda 530 NVMe drive suffered controller overheating and NAND degradation. The 2TB SSD held the client files of the whole office, and it stopped showing up in Windows. Even so, our engineers cloned it sector by sector and recovered 100% of the data.

We offer SSD and NVMe data recovery to CA firms, offices and businesses in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and the rest of India, with free pickup from your office.

  • Brand : Seagate FireCuda 530
  • Capacity : 2TB M.2 NVMe (PCIe Gen4)
  • Data : Client files, Tally, GST, audit
  • Problem : Overheating controller + NAND degradation
  • Method : Sector-by-sector cloning
  • Success Rate : 100%

Problem Description: The Office SSD That Ran Hot, Then Vanished

The CA firm kept its shared client folders on one desktop workstation in the office. Its Seagate FireCuda 530 SSD held years of work for hundreds of clients: Tally company data, GST returns, income tax files, audit working papers, scanned documents and Excel sheets. Every partner and staff member opened files from it over the office network.

In the middle of the busy tax audit season, the shared folders became slow. Next, file copies froze halfway, and the workstation showed a high SSD temperature warning. Then the PC hung completely. After a restart, the SSD was gone from Windows. Sometimes it appeared in the BIOS for a minute and then dropped out again.

The office backup to an external drive had stopped weeks earlier, and nobody had noticed. So the firm’s IT vendor did the right thing: they stopped all attempts and sent the SSD to us. For the firm, this FireCuda 530 data recovery was urgent, because client filing deadlines were close.

The symptoms included:

  • Shared folders opening slowly for the whole office
  • File copies freezing halfway
  • A high SSD temperature warning on the workstation
  • The SSD disappearing from Windows after a restart

Understanding the Challenge: SSD Controller Overheating and NAND Degradation

The FireCuda 530 is a fast PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD. On it, a controller chip manages every read and write, while the NAND chips hold the data. As NAND cells wear out, their stored charge weakens, so reads come back with more errors. That is NAND degradation.

To fix those errors, the controller retries each weak area again and again. As a result, it works much harder than normal and gets hot. SSD controller overheating then makes the controller slow down to protect itself, and finally it drops the connection. That is why the SSD vanished from Windows and kept dropping out of the BIOS.

Because of that, every restart and every recovery app made things worse. Each attempt kept the hot controller busy on the same weak areas, and a fast Gen4 drive heats up quickly. That is why Seagate SSD data recovery from a failing FireCuda needs a lab, not software.

FireCuda 530 Data Recovery: Sector-by-Sector Cloning in Our Pune Lab

Our engineers followed our step-by-step process for this FireCuda 530 data recovery:

  • Connected the M.2 SSD to our lab system through an NVMe adapter, in read-only mode
  • Fitted a heatsink and steady airflow, and watched the controller temperature during every session
  • Started a sector-by-sector clone to a healthy drive, reading the healthy areas first and skipping slow ones
  • Went back to the degraded NAND areas with slower reads, more retries and cool-down pauses in between
  • Repeated those passes until every sector of the 2TB SSD was read, so the clone was complete
  • Rebuilt the Windows file system on the clone and opened sample files from every client folder

This NVMe data recovery in Pune took 3 days from quote approval, because a 2TB clone with degraded NAND needs slow passes. Most SSD recovery cases finish within 24 to 48 hours, and our SSD recovery charges page explains how pricing works.

Outcome of the Seagate SSD Data Recovery

This FireCuda 530 data recovery ended with 100% of the data back: every client folder, Tally company, GST return, tax file and audit working paper, with the original folder structure and file names. Before delivery, we checked that the Tally companies opened and that sample Excel and PDF files from each client folder were readable.

We copied everything to a new drive, so the firm’s IT vendor could restore the shared folders to the office straight away. Our security measures kept the client financial records confidential, and we erased our copy 7 days after delivery.

Lessons for CA Firms and Offices: Protect Client Data

Many offices keep all client work on one fast SSD in one PC. Still, a few habits keep a failing SSD from stopping the whole office:

  • Back up the shared folders every day, and check each week that the backup actually finished
  • Keep a second copy away from the office, for example in the cloud
  • Give an M.2 NVMe SSD a heatsink and good airflow, especially in a small desktop case
  • Treat temperature warnings, slow folders and frozen copies as warning signs, not just slowness
  • If the SSD disappears, power off and do not keep restarting or running recovery apps

Seagate SSD Data Recovery: Frequently Asked Questions

Answers for CA firms, offices and home users in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad or anywhere in India whose Seagate or NVMe SSD is hot, slow or not detected.

Often, yes. When a Seagate SSD stops showing up, the data is usually still in its NAND chips. A lab keeps the controller stable and cool, clones the SSD sector by sector, and then rebuilds the files from the clone, as we did here.
Poor airflow is one cause. However, SSD controller overheating is also a common sign of a failing drive. When NAND cells wear out, the controller keeps retrying reads and works much harder than normal. If the SSD also slows down or disappears, back up or power off at once.
Common signs are an SSD that disappears and comes back, freezes during file copies, shows the wrong capacity, or is not detected at all. High temperature warnings often come first. Stop using the SSD and get it checked before the controller fails completely.
NAND cells wear out with use and age, so they hold their charge less well and reads need more error correction. Some areas then become slow or unreadable. With careful, slow reads in a lab, the data in those areas can often still be recovered.
Usually, yes. An SSD spreads data across its NAND chips in its own way, and the controller manages that map. So the controller must stay working, or the lab must rebuild its work. Read SSD vs HDD for more.
No. A warranty claim replaces the SSD, and the new one arrives empty, unless the drive was sold with Seagate’s separate Rescue plan. So recover the data first. Our Seagate warranty guide explains it.
Most cases take 24 to 48 hours after you approve the quote. This 2TB FireCuda 530 data recovery took 3 days, because the degraded NAND needed slow passes. See our SSD data recovery cost page too.
