SanDisk Warranty Check and Customer Care India: How to Claim, and Why the Replacement Comes Without Your Files

A SanDisk pen drive, memory card or portable SSD has stopped working. Checking the warranty takes a minute and the claim is straightforward. What the SanDisk pages say about the files on it is also straightforward: “SanDisk does not perform data recovery services.” The replacement is a new product with nothing on it. This guide gives the India number, the check, the warranty periods and the claim steps — and the one decision to make before you send anything back.
SanDisk customer care number (India)
- Warranty support: 1800-569-3411 — toll-free, Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM IST, English. Published on SanDisk’s India consumer-support page and repeated by SanDisk’s own support account on X.
- Chat and email — from sandisk.com/en-in/support through a SanDisk support account.
- Not the WD number. SanDisk separated from Western Digital in 2025 and has its own portal (
support-en.sandisk.com) and its own line. The WD tool will report a SanDisk serial as not found. WD’s own number and service points are in our Western Digital customer care guide.
SanDisk’s India page names Rashi Peripherals as importer of record for products sold through the SanDisk India store; retail purchases from Amazon, Flipkart and shops are covered the same way, through the same portal.
How to check a SanDisk warranty by serial number
- Find the serial number. Pen drives: engraved or printed on the metal connector or the body, often tiny — a magnifier or camera zoom helps. Memory cards: printed on the back of the card (SD) or on the card face in very small type (microSD). Portable and internal SSDs: on the label, marked S/N.
- Open Check Warranty Coverage Status on the SanDisk support portal and enter it. The result shows in warranty with an end date, out of warranty, or not found.
- Not found usually means a misread character (0/O, 1/I, 8/B), a product registered to a different region, or a counterfeit — fake SanDisk cards and pen drives are common on marketplaces, and their serials are not in the system. Keep the invoice; SanDisk asks for proof of purchase on a claim.
- Optional: register the product to the same account, which saves the serial for later claims.
SanDisk warranty periods (India)
From SanDisk’s product warranty periods table. India falls under APAC:
- Ultra SD and microSD cards: 7 or 10 years depending on the print colour on the card — SanDisk’s table keys it to the label design.
- Extreme and Extreme PRO SD / microSD cards: limited lifetime warranty (30 years in regions that do not recognise “lifetime”).
- Ultra USB flash drives: 5 years. Cruzer flash drives: 5 years in APAC (2 in the US).
- Extreme and Extreme PRO portable SSDs: 5 years.
- Ultra 3D internal SSD: 5 years. Extreme PRO internal SSD: 10 years.
Coverage runs from the purchase date on the invoice. SSDs also carry an endurance limit (terabytes written), whichever comes first — the warranty tool does not show TBW used; the SanDisk Dashboard does.
How a SanDisk warranty claim works
- Check the warranty (above) and sign in to the support portal. Warranty services on the India site is the entry point.
- Submit a warranty replacement request with the serial number, proof of purchase and a fault description. The portal issues an RMA number.
- Courier the product with the RMA number on the outside, or hand it in where SanDisk’s India partner accepts returns; the portal tells you which applies to your product and city.
- Receive a replacement — the same or an equivalent product. Track it at Check Warranty Replacement Status.
What ends the claim: physical damage, a cut or bent connector, a card that has been through a wash or a pen drive run over by a chair, products with the label removed, and anything bought from a non-authorised seller (which is where most fakes come from).
What SanDisk says about your data
Support article “SanDisk Warranty Replacement and Data Recovery” is short and unambiguous:
- “SanDisk does not perform data recovery services.”
- For data, in or out of warranty, it refers you to its data recovery partners and states that “any agreement you may reach with the service provider is a matter between you and the service provider.”
- The product you send in is not returned. The replacement arrives empty.
There is no bundled recovery plan of the Seagate Rescue kind on SanDisk products. If the photos on the card or the files on the pen drive matter, recovery has to happen before the claim, on the original product.
The right order when the files matter
- Confirm the warranty end date, but do not open the RMA yet. With 5- to 10-year and lifetime terms, a few weeks for recovery costs nothing.
- Stop using the product. Do not format when Windows offers to (“You need to format the disk before you can use it”), do not run CHKDSK, and do not keep re-inserting a card that is not detected — a failing controller gets worse with each power cycle.
- Get it analysed. A pen drive or card that is not detected at all usually has a failed controller or a cracked solder joint; the data is still on the NAND chip and is read chip-off. A card or drive that is detected but shows RAW, 0 bytes or asks to format is a logical fault and is imaged without any opening. Portable SSDs split the same way.
- Then claim the replacement. Recovery does not use the serial number, and a chip-off pen drive is exactly as dead afterwards as it was before — but ask SanDisk support whether they want it back in one piece before the work starts, and keep the case number.
